| The "Historic Third Ward" is just south of the downtown business district. It is devoted to shopping, galleries, dining, and entertainment (according to its publicity booklet). I was mainly interested in its appealing variety of 1880-1920 architecture and the river walk (below). | |

The Historic Third Ward's main claim to fame is the Milwaukee Public Market, "bursting with unique, high quality selections of artisan and ethnic products." It is also a great place to sit in the second floor eating area and people-watch while cooling off. |
