Wisconsin Sun
Downtown Milwaukee
Driving down Wisconsin Avenue, we passed a lot of wonderful old buildings, including the Pabst House and the Milwaukee Public library (below). The downtown area had much more modern high-rise construction than I had expected. There were several new athletic centers, museums, and performing arts locations, such as the Marcus Center.
I found the downtown to be a very pleasant contrast of the very modern and the very traditional, such as the old City Hall (below, right). And one of my rules of travel is to always find the local Irish pub when it's late in the day and I can use some refreshment, such as the Guinness we had at Mo's Irish Pub (right in the center of the downtown area). After that, and a walk along the river front, we ended up in Kiku's Japanese Restaurant for dinner.
